Motion sensor

Hi everyone I am new to this thread and would like some help please, I want to change a light switch to a motion sensor switch with quite vague instructions, in the existing switch there are two red wires one in and one out to the light but I am unsure as to the instructions that came with my motion sensor switch there only seems to be two outlet connections to go to but no inlet, Name: IMG_2365.jpg

The one is is the LINE. The one out to the light is the LOAD.

It also appears that if you are using a LED light they want a 220Kohm half watt resistor installed across the LED.

Red wire ughh

Hello all, I just replaced my 2 garage lights (both from same switch). 1 had black white and bare wire so I connected them to the same on the new fixture, turned on breaker then wall switch and it worked. (Along with other light that was previously installed). Turned off switch and breaker, took down the remaining old fixture without looking at wire placement, went to connect new light and noticed a difference coming out of the ceiling. Instead of black white and bare like the previous one, it had black white and RED. I capped off the red, connected black to black and white to white turned on and neither worked. I then connected the red and black to the black on light fixture and both lights work. Did I do this correctly or does the black from the ceiling need to be capped???Read More

Outdoor Post Light Timer

I have a series of outdoor post lamps that are run off a timer located in my garage. The timer is a mechanical one in an outdoor enclosure and has recently stopped turning lights off correctly. Not sure what the issue is since it seems to be running properly but the pins are not turning the lights off. The pins are correctly set according to the chart in the timer, which has been in my garage for at least the 19 years I have been in the home. If I replace the timer, what type of timer would be an appropriate replacement. I assume since the timer is actually not outdoors I don't need a box with an outdoor metal enclosure.Read More
