Only hot lines are connected for ceiling lights switches
Hi all
I am new to this site, have searched couple of hours regarding electrical forum, finally got here!!
Just wondering, I opened wall switch cover and found only hot lines are connected and other lines such as neutral and earth are capped by electrical tape.
Is that normal?

Welcome to the forums.
Are you just investigating or are you changing something ?
Yes...... for a basic switch setup where there is one cable in and one out. The white neutral wires are just carried thru. The black hot wire and the black to the light go to the switch. The grounds get connected together. If it's a metal box....... the ground gets connected to it also. The ground also goes to the switch.
