Ceiling fan gets power but won't work

Okay so I turned a breaker off and when I turned it back on the light\fan wouldn't work in the master bedroom. It was just fine before that. I have some of that old timey wiring for this specific circuit. I'm getting power to the switch that controls this fan and it's going out at 110. I replaced the fan as well because it was old and ugly. The cable from the ceiling seemed to be in good shape besides being old. Any ideas why power would be going to the fan but not power on? I regretfully didn't check for power when the fan was off but I know that switch is just for that device.

Checking for power at the fan would be my next step. You can double check the switch to make sure it's getting power in and sending out when in the on position but other than that I'd be getting out a ladder to check for power at the fan.

If you only worked in the fan box then the problem is 99.9% in that fan box.
1. You installed it wrong.
2. One of your connections is loose.
3. The new fan is defective.

Try putting the old one back and see if it works.

Does the fan have a remote control or a pull chain to control speed, which has to be used to operate the fan? Does the fan have a light that does or does not work? Is there a switch for summer/winter (blade rotation direction) that might be in a middle dead position?
