Low Voltage

Low Voltage

I am getting 69 volts at an overhead light. I'm getting the same voltage at the wall switch. All other circuits are operating properly. Any ideas?

Are you using a digital meter? What is the voltage hot to ground? Does power come in at the light or the switch?

Flip the light on. Then measure the voltage across the light fixture hot and neutral terminals or lines.

Note: Measuring voltage across the two switch terminals does not give information useful for troubleshooting household electrical circuits with.
