Just finished recessed Lighting DIY need some comments
any electrician out here or a person with a know how to check if i did everything to "code" and i did not do anything that will burn my house down lol..
white to white, black to black and ground to ground and so far all is working good!
about me - i never done anything this extensive and just pretty much light bulb change or light switch replacement.. My daughter is complaining her room is so dark and because i got quoted $800 (all in) to install 8pcs can lights i got courage to DIY thanks to youtube video and some forum post.
materials used
can lights 4 inch - Globe-Electric-4-in-White-Dimmable-Recessed-Lighting-Kit-10-Pack
bulbs - 35-Watt-Equivalent-MR16-GU10-Dimmable-LED-90-CRI-Flood-Light-Bulb-Daylight
14/2 romex wire + cable connector used in the box -
Southwire-100-ft-14-2-Solid-Romex-NM-B-W-G-Wire
RACO-Non-Metallic-1-2-in-Sheathed-Cable-Connector
now for my question
1: is it OK if i tap on the existing ceiling fan light switch? or this is a "NO NO" and come back tomorrow and figure out how to add a new light switch to make it a "2 gang".
2: is it OK if i burry the can lights with white insulation? they are IC rated but just need to make sure.
ill be doing the next room tomorrow so just want to make sure everything is up to code.. COMMENTS and SUGGESTIONS are very much welcome.
Thank you all.

Welcome to the forums.
Daylight LED's can be a little harsh in a bedroom. Is she happy with the color ? You may need to go a little warmer in bulb choices. Yes..... the insulation can cover the IC rated cans. Those 4" cans are heat rated for 50w incandescent bulbs so the LED's should run cooler anyway. The wiring between fixtures is ok.
I do see a problem. That is one of those line powered remote fans switches. That switch controls lights and fans via data on a single two wire cable to a canopy mounted controller.
What is controlling the lights now..... that dimmer won't be ?

Thank you for the warm welcome!
i may try and switch to 3000K like this one tomorrow, the good thing is i live 3min away from home depot.
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Feit-Ele...CA-6/304122947
when we got the house 1.5 years ago the ceiling fan with a built in light and switch is already there and there is no dimmer..
so the button "Fan off-low-medium-high" is for the fan to turn on and the green "light" button is turn all the lights including the 4 recessed i just did.
the ON/OFF button below the switch is to turn it all OFF so fan or lights wont turn on if its set to off.
is that OK?

If the switch just turns the lights on and off you should be ok. If that switch dimmed the lights it may not be LED rated and could actually be damaged by LED bulbs.

I resized all your pictures. A member is given 10 megs of storage. Your 8 pics used all 10 megs.
