Will this take a can light fixture?

Throughout my basement previous owner installed 4" recessed lights / cans in the ceiling. They are the retrofit style in which the wiring attaches to an edison bulb like base which screws into the fixture.

However, in one nook they didn't install anything but did wire it. I removed the plate and found what you see in the photo. The blue box and wiring sticking out from it. (Sorry that photo isn't oriented correctly)

Is it possible for me to install a can light fixture? I've have seen the "remodel" style at the store but these looked more complicated than I had hoped for. Is there some easier way to have a ceiling light in this nook? Thanks!

That is an old work box. It's held in place by three wings. Loosen the three screws in the box, the wings in back will spin and the box will come out. Then you can install your recessed fixture.

Thanks, that link was very helpful. I hadn't seen that type of retrofit in the store, only the kind with edison bulb ends.
