Connecting stranded wire to solid 14/3

I was putting in smokes hard wire the connections. I’m good MY question is that since the wire from the smokes and light fixtures is stranded someone told me just undo the wire nut and wrap the wire around the connection [ they are twisted together]. Is that good, or should I break them apart put the stranded wire next to one and the group back then the wire nut

How do I put a stranded wire under a wire nut [there's 3 conductors under the wire nut and twisted]? Can I take the nut off and put the stranded around the conductors and put the wire nut back on or should break it apart, put the stranded around one then retwist them and put the nut back on?

As long as the wires are wrapped evenly...... one doesn't need to be next to the other. When working with solid and stranded wiring....... it's usually easier to wrap the stranded wire around the solid wire.
