Light switch crackling

When I switched on my patio light the other night I noticed the switch that controls it from the inside made a crackling sound. When I looked at the patio light the bulb was flickering so I figured change the bulb. When I put the new bulb in and switch it on, same result, there was a crackling sound from the switch and the new bulb was flickering as well. There was no smoke or anything, figuring maybe the wiring on the switch was sparking and eventually start a fire, just a crackling sound as if it were sparking, maybe it was underneath the switch cover. So what do you think it is, should I replace the switch? Thanks in advance.

Definitely replace the switch.
When you buy one..... get one in the preferred or better line as it will last longer with fewer problems.

If you new switch has the push in back stab connections, don't use them. Use the screw connections
