Help with recessed lights in living room
Hi, I have a layout of recessed lights that I want to put in my living room. I am using 6 6" lights spaced about 4 ft from the wall, and a little over 5 ft from each other. On one wall is a bookcase and a tv. I have 8ft ceilings. Please comment.

Thanks, I have accounted for this already. I was primarily concerned with the size chosen (6"vs 4") and the general placement with respect to the TV and book case. Thanks for the feedback.

Also, how to I ensure that the lights are aligned straight? Ideally I would measure off both walls, but the walls will not be straight on each side along the length. So should I be indexing the first one off the walls then aligning the rest to this light?

Measuring directly off the wall for placement is ok. They can be slightly off without it being noticeable.

You will get a cone effect on the walls if you get them too close but nothing wrong if they are 36-42" away and you dont mind those brighter spots on the walls. You can also sometimes adjust a bulb higher if needed.

Here's my new layout. I moved them closer to the walls. Hopefully there is not too much spacing between the two rows. I have GE Soft White 65W equivalent LED 6" lights. I'm ready to cut tomorrow.
