Bulb burnt out, changed it, now switch wont work.

Hello, my patio light fixture is no longer working. We thought it was just the bulb, so we changed it. Flipped the switch and got nothing. Then we thought maybe a breaker flipped off. We turned them off and back on. Got nothing still with a new bulb. Then I thought it might be the little metal connector that touches the bulb when I screws in...so I pulled it down just a little bit. Put the bulb back in and got nothing again. Is there anything else it could be?

Welcome to the forums.

Are you sure the new bulb is actually working ?
Try it in a known good fixture.

What PJ said. But to be sure get a VOM meter and test the light fixture and the leads going to the switch. Not unusual for a switch to go bad on an outside light after many years use.

You mentioned "Patio" light. Are you sure this (outdoor) light is not protected by a GFCI somewhere that may have tripped? Did you check the switch to see if there is a problem with the switch?
