Ceiling fan vibration/hum from 1st floor
Whenever someone turn on the fan on the first floor the room above it you can hear a pretty loud hum.
now I installed a old work fan box because the old box was not fan rated and then installed the van like any other. I’ve installed a lot of ceiling fans and never had this problem before.
anyone have any ideas? Maybe I put the box too high or low.
I believe the fan is balanced fine so I feel like it has something to do with box

It depends on the type of fan.
Many have rubber bushings in the mounting to reduce the transferred vibration.
You want the box attached as solidly as possible to the joist so that won't cause your problem.
