[left]Whenever someone turn on the fan on the first floor the room above it you can hear a pretty loud hum. [left] now I installed a old work fan box because the old box was not fan rated and then installed the van like any other. I’ve installed a lot of ceiling fans and never had this problem before. anyone have any ideas? Maybe I put the box too high or low. I believe the fan is balanced fine so I feel like it has something to do with box[/left][/left]

Ceiling 3 black wires, 3 white wires red wire ground. Operated by a switch NO DIMMER on Wall. Also wires in ceiling operate 2 wall outlets. so someone wired 3 black and 3 white. So old fan when u flipped wall switch the light on ceiling fan went on and off but the fan continued to run unless you pulled the chain on the fan. I have a new fan no light. I have no clue what's hot or not. Nothing is marked. I can cap the red wire coming out of the ceiling as I'm guessing that was for the light on the old fan? How do I sort out the other wires 3 black 3 white? I'm assuming this is a loop that someone did prior to us. Thank you.
