Light fixture over cooktop

We have a pendant light fixture over our cooktop and are considering a replacement. When looking for fixtures, I don't see any that specify being over the cooktop which can have moisture from cooking. Are fixtures designed for over cooktop? Do building codes specify cooktop light fixture requirements other than minimum heights?

I don't think there is a specific pendant to use over a cooktop. I'd stay away from anything plastic. I'd keep it at least 40" above the surface of the cooktop. I'd stick with something easy to clean.

Actually..... I'd recommend a recessed fixture.

I think I'd recommend an exhaust hood.

I take it that this is a counter top cook top without any cabinets over it.

If cleaning and moisture were not a problem with the old fixture then the new fixture could be mounted at the same height as long as it used the same materials.
Basically it is a personal choice.

You did not say why you were replacing it and that would have a bearing on what to replace it with.

Unless you have a downdraft cooktop you should have an exhaust fan over the cooktop.
