old outdoor porch lights
Trying to change the light bulbs. There are no screws holding the glass dome. I am guessing I turn it to take off the glass dome but it doesn't budge. I do not know how to get this glass dome off to put a new bulb in w/out possible breaking it. Any suggestions? TY in advance.

Looks to me that someone has painted them in.
Take a knife and start at the crack and work your way around the dome.

Looks more like someone used caulking to me then paint to keep bugs out.
Put I agree, just cut around the globe and it should just unscrew.
Looking up it should turn counter clockwise.

we've tried counter clockwise & it won't budge to the point of we are afraid of breaking the glass dome.
will be trying the knife like what was previously suggested....if we could 'look it up' we wouldn't be on here asking for help.

Yup, looks to me like someone put caulking around the globe to the fixture. Take a utility knife and gently score around where the glass globe meets the fixture. Once you know you have cut thru the caulking then with the palms of both hands from the bottom of the globe gently apply pressing going up towards the fixture and gently turn the globe counter clockwise (if looking at if from underneath upwards). More than likely it will require a 1/4 to 1/2 turn and then the glass will release from the fixture. You may have to move it counter and then clockwise a few times to loosen it.
