Wall wiring too short
I'm not sure how to lengthen the wires in the wall too replace the receptacle. This outlet is connected too all of the outlets in the kitchen. Nothing works. Help!!! The house is 60 years old. I've updated wiring in the new edition, contractor never checked the wiring in the kitchen or living room. How do I fix this? I've installed fixtures, receptacles. I'm not sure how too lengthen the wall wires.

If you have an inch or so in the box, you can use a wire nut and pigtail the wires to make them long enough to connect to the receptacles. Will that work?

If you have the access, sometimes adding another junction box allows the cable to be spliced.

The wires can be lengthened. Try using these Ideal Term-A-Nut pigtail connectors.
