Can't remove trim from recessed can

I have an old recessed remodel can in my ceiling with some new trim. It's the usual kind of trim with 2 springs which fit into notches on either side of the can. Trim model Halo 5001.

I can't get the trim out. When I pull on it, it only pulls out about 1/4" and wants to bring the entire can with it. I don't want to force it, or I'll end up with a bigger hole in my ceiling.

Tips or tricks?

Take the bulb out and see if it's got the double wire kind of springs. They can sometimes be tight.

I got it out finally. The springs on those new trims are pretty powerful. The spring must have been hung up on something in the can where it wasn't supposed to be. I had to twist and jiggle and pull to free it.
