Question Converting and installing European light fixtures

Two questions:

1. I'm having several antique English and European sconces and ceiling fixtures rewired for use in the US, but the backplates and canopies of European fixtures are too small to cover American junction boxes. MyLampParts.com sells 6 1/2" x 5 1/2" backplates. Do these have to be soldered onto the fixtures?

2. I'd like to use some vintage opaline pendant shades in my kitchen. Installing them requires wired canopy fixtures that come with colored cords and sockets. What is the correct term for such sets and what is a good but inexpensive source?

Many thanks.

Welcome to the forums.

Who is doing the rewiring ? Someone or a company here in the States ?
They should be able to answer your question about the backplates.
Typically a fixture is attached to a backplate with a short hollow 3/8" threaded nipple.
Without seeing your fixture.... we couldn't comment further.

You should be having this work done by someone experienced in lighting fixture upgrades.
They usually have the proper cordage in bulk.
