Oscillating Fan - Rattling Sound

Hello,

I have uploaded a video of the fan here - https://youtu.be/McZHUIYOKqE

My oscillating fan produces a rattling sound whenever it oscillates or is moved to a certain angle.

Any help would be great? The sound is driving me nuts.

When it's running and make the sound... listen to it and find the source. You can also push on parts of the fan when it's running to see if that stops the sound, when you do then you've found the source.

That's the sound of the armature bouncing off the bearings. (the shaft is going in and out slightly)
Does it make the same noise when the blades are on ?

Yeah, it's definitely the rotor bouncing of the bearings or the stator. Unsure how to stop that from doing that?

Sometimes a shim washer can be installed but that requires the motor to be disassembled.
With most of those fans.... the resistance of the fan running and blowing air stops that.
Sometimes tipping the fan up or down slightly will stop it too.

That's it fixed! Very simple, I just needed to adjust the fan legs as they were squint, which was swaying the fan ever so slighty, hence the rattling of the rotor. However, learnt a lot taking the fan apart and took the opportunity to lubricate the bearings.

Thanks for your help!

You're welcome. I'm sure the motor appreciated the lube.
