How many 6 inch recessed light needed for a 12x11 room?

I have a 12x11 bedroom with 8 ft ceiling and already have a ceiling fan in the middle. I want to install 6-inch recessed lights. Each of the lights is around 800 lumens. How many lights do I need?

If I only install 4 at the 4 corners, would it be bright enough?

Also, how far should the lights be away from the wall?

Thanks!

There is no right or wrong number and it depends on what the use will be. direct, like in a kitchen, or indirect (decorative) for most other rooms.

For a room that size I'd be looking at 6 lights, but probably the smaller 4" size, mounted 24" from the wall!

The newer LED set ups are easy to install and fully adjustable.

I agree with Marq, for a bedroom, 4 seems to be a good number. I'd definitely put them on a dimmer.

If it were more of a rec room, I might go with 6, but I think that would be excessive in a bedroom. You'll also want to make sure to keep them away from the ceiling fan so you don't get a strobe effect.
