Ceiling Fan Won't Change Direction

I have a ceiling fan that recently stopped rotating to blow air down. There's no hard switch (slide type), just a button I press on a remote to change the direction of rotation. If I hold the button down, the fan will change to blow air down, but as soon as I release the button the fan changes direction blowing air up again. Any idea how I might fix it? Maybe there's a way to hardwire it to blow air down? I now I would need to send a picture of the wiring but thought maybe there's an easier fix.

Thank you

How fresh is the battery in the remote?
What brand and model of fan? Are you sure there is no summer/winter switch in the side of fan body?

It's more common..... and less costly... to put the reverse switch on the fan. With the reverse feature in the remote..... the fans' direction is set electronically. That means you'd need to replace the receiver board in the fan.

That would require a make and model.

I'll try changing the battery to see if that will fix it. I appreciate both responses.
