Ceiling Fan Noise

Any ideas what tbis noise is? And is it fixable? Fan is maybe 14 years old.

Been doing a ton of searching but most problems are with fan ticking or humming. This is a different sound, like a bingo wheel at a carnival :-) it does it when the blades are removed and i spin it by hand.

Sounds like a bearing problem in the motor. Almost 15 years, buy a new one.

Thanks for writing back Norm. Driving me nuts bc kids started virtual school today and this is their home classroom. I can easily install a new one as ive done 4 or 5 so far. Thanks!!

Nope..... not a bearing. Something fell in it. Could be as simple as a wirenut or piece of a cable tie or piece of wire insulation. Take the fan down, hold it upside down and spin it. Whatever it is should fall out.

Oh great. If i can avoid buying and installing a brand new fan that would be great. Ok will give that a try and post results.
