How many recessed lights needed for 19ft x 15ft living room?
My living room is 19ft x 15ft and 8ft ceiling. How many recessed light do I need?
Also, should I use 6 inch light or 4 inch recessed lights?
Thanks!

Depends on what your trying to achieve!
Indirect lighting around the perimeter for accent or direct lighting across the entire area. There is no one answer!
4 or 6 is personal preference, the amount of light from each can be the same!

Pssst! This is not an electrical question!
For a rec' room or a family room, a simple grid pattern of can lights is common. For example twelve lights in a 4 x 3 grid. I am thinking of roughly 2 -3 feet between the first light / last light and the wall and roughly 5 -6 feet between any two lights.
For a living room you might want to first plan out the locations of furniture notably sofas, televisions, and easy chairs, and also pictures, mirrors, and other hung objects..

Many people consider the 4" trim more modern looking. The 6" spreads the light a bit more, and looks a bit more 'traditional'.
For what it's worth, I've been using only 4" recessed lights over the past few years.
