My son in law pulled all switches before removing a section of interior wall and is unable to rewire them correctly. I've made chart, if anyone should venture to make the connections from number to letter that would be much appreciated. These are old switches from the 70's.
I'd venture but I have no idea what you are trying to show us.
No such thing as a two way. Do you mean 3 way using two switches ?
If yes... we'll need the colors off the 2nd 3 way switch....WITHOUT disconnecting it.
There will be two brass screws and a dark/black screw. The dark screw is common and is important.
You're showing some wires connected.... a guess ?
The three way switch is easy to see...... C = 4 ... D = 5 ... E = 6.
Cables J, K, L ...... one needs to be power in, one is power out and one is light.
Is J the feed into the box ?
You're showing whites and blacks connected. That is not typically done.
Cable P shows the neutral as connected to the hot wires.
Are you mixing the white and black wires ?
This was the original wiring, havent undone anything. I wasnt there when he unhooked those switches. I assume there was pigtailing. It looked unconventional to me so i thought to post it on forum.
3 way is working in both rooms now. Thanks.
Thinking K is going to outlet in the den ... L is for den light ... Black paired on L2 I haven't a clue.
Not sure I can help any further as those connections don't make sense.
White and black wires are not usually connected together.
I'd need to know what checks hot.
Greetings!
We are in the middle of a kitchen / bath / dining room remodel and are going into it with zero experience on lighting.
Attached are pictures of the first rough draft we came up with.
Our big questions:
[list=1]
[*]Recessed vs pendant for island - would pendant be too busy, perhaps?
[*]Recessed vs window pendant for kitchen sink.
[*]Pendant lighting on dining room table and dining room table size. Proportionally a 96" x 42" table would fit just about perfectly given the "virtual" wall we have in place next to the walking path, however we don't have a use case for a table that big. I also attached a mockup of a smaller 68" vs 36" table, which IMO looks way too small.
[*]Any suggestionsin the way we have spacing/position for the recessed lights in both rooms?

Hey everyone, I am trying to install some flood lights around the house. I wanted to confirm my plan with you knowledgeable folks. My plan is to have a total of 5 floodlights at 240watts each for a total of 1200 watts. I want to install a 15 amp breaker and run UF-B 12awg with ground from the breaker box to a junction box in the attic which will split into 3 12awg wires 1 going to a flood light on the front of the house and the other 2 going to separate junction boxes at each end of the house that split off into each remaining floodlight all using 12awg. Is this a reasonable way to do this? Should I change the wiring size?
