Screened in patio - Anyone running the outdoor globe lights?
I really enjoy the look of these strung across the patio however I've never really seen it in a screen in patio enclosure. Has anyone here done it and how did it turn out? Pic below for reference
My wife calls them "happy lights". We have them around the ceiling in our screened porch. It creates a really nice affect. You can also use white Christmas lights if you want to try something less expensive. Then if you like the idea you can to more expensive bulbed options.
Just my personal opinion, but I don't think it would look very good inside a screened porch. At least not draped like that. Maybe hung/stapled straight across the top, but even then it could look cheesy (like a game at a county fair). If the ceiling happens to be vaulted, I think draping them up high could look okay. If it's the warm glow of the incandescent bulbs you like, you could maybe hang a nice looking chandelier in the center with some incandescent bulbs and put it on a dimmer.

New ballast
I am replacing a ballast, I followed the wiring diagram and the lights came on, but the middle of the bulb is dim and the light itself seems wavy.
I connected the red wire from the ballast to the two yellows on the fixture. Then connected one blue from ballast to two blues on other side of fixture. Connected other blue from ballast to the two reds on fixture.
Again, light comes on but it's dim. Is it a wiring problem or is the new ballast just not suitable?
Hey all!
I'm trying to find the best way to wire a dual switch for a porch light and indoor ceiling fan. The source power cable, fan power cable, porch light power cable, as well as a smoke detector power cable all reside within an accessible metal j-box (see attached drawing).
I currently have a 12-2-2 (black, red, white, white, ground) cable run from this j-box to connect to a single pole dual switch.
Can anyone give direction on what should happen in the j-box? I don't want to get any wires crossed and my brain is having a hard time figuring this one out!
