Add switch off of gfci outlet

I want to install under cabinet lighting and was looking to follow the instructions found here (https://www.thisoldhouse.com/platfor...binet-lighting) but have a few questions.

1) is it acceptable to connect a switch to a countertop gfci outlet in this manner?

2) if it is, does anyone have a better diagram of the correct wiring?

thank you

Which part of the wiring is causing you trouble? I must admit in the diagram you linked I would expect to see a low voltage power supply somewhere as that's usually not done by the switch.

1. NO. Counter top GFCI circuit can only serve counter top receptacles.
