1 of 3 pot lights work. It’s on a 3 way switch, but I don’t think that should matter.
I removed the old light fixture in the center of my hall and installed 3 lights down the hall.
the center is where the power is. This is the only one that works. I used push in connecters on all 3.
I used a non contact tester with the switch on and there is power going to all 3.
I simply connected the power from the breaker box (from the old fixture) to the center pot light, then connected wire to the first and last of the pot lights to the center one.
the connections seem solid and they’re the right colors/wires.
do note, when I wired everything up, I tested them before closing everything off and putting them in the ceiling and they all lit up.
i also switched around the actual pot lights to the center one and they all work off the center one, so it’s not the actual light.
I un hooked everything from the center one. Then, connected the far one with wire nuts and the power/neutral (cables coming out the center) with wire nuts.
Still doesn’t work. Maybe something is wrong inside the boxes for both?
odd that 2 of them would go out like that (theyre brand new)
Yeah they worked initially when I tested them all before putting the boxes and lights into the ceiling.
and of course after I put them in, the 2 didn’t work.
maybe I blew them or something? Not sure how though.
anyhow, the HD ones seem nicer (though more expensive), they’re all metal for the most part (box and lights). The amazon ones were plastic and seemed cheap.
I stupidly forgot to look at the light fixture wiring before I removed the old one. I have 5 wires coming out of the ceiling. There are 2 white wires, 2 black wires, and 1 orange wire.
In the dimmer switch location the orange wire is connected to one of the black wires on the switch and the black wire from the wall is connected to the other black wire on the switch. The two white wires are connected together and not connected to the dimmer switch. I am trying to attach a new light fixture that has only three wires: a load, neutral, and ground.
There is another dimmer switch for that room but I don't remember if it goes to the light fixture that I am replacing or not. The dimmer switches are the kind that you push in to turn on/off and turn to dim. I am also trying to replace the dimmer switch with a new leviton one.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I need to replace some lights. The previous owner put lights into a tree in the back yard, and over the weekend it got struck by lightning, destroying the fixtures. I'm going to replace them with flood lights on the house instead of putting lights on the tree directly as the lightning strike caused some problems in the house. Are there any recommendations for flood lights to do this? I've tried Home Depot, Amazon, etc and it seems like my only two choices are a generic outdoor assembly with two lights, or a motion triggered set. Is that the only option?
