Ceiling Fan Stopped Working

The fan pull chain pulled out of the three way switch. We got a replacement switch for the fan and connected the wires the same way as the original switch. When we put it back together, the fan did not operate at all. It did have a low hum on one of the switch positions.

Is there anything that we should do to solve this?

My only suggestion would be to recheck the connections. Other than that, maybe a bad switch? I just did this operation on one of my brother's ceiling fans last weekend. How old is the fan itself?

It's very important to install the correct replacement switch They are not universal.
You must match the label and position from the old switch to the new switch.

These are all three speed switches and are all different.
