Changing out light switch to dimmer

Hi all, first post. Replacing some a switch in my kitchen to some recessed lighting with a dimmer. The lights were installed several years ago, Im just getting around to it. The rest of my house has been fairly straightforward except this one has me a bit puzzled.
I have two blacks and a red that appeared to be free floating. Unsure of how to wire this correctly to the dimmer I have. Thanks in advance for any insight.

Welcome to the forums.

Take the two black wires off the switch and connect together.
Add either of the dimmer wires to the black splice.
The other black dimmer wires goes to the red wire.
Connect green to the bare copper wires.
