Hi all, first post. Replacing some a switch in my kitchen to some recessed lighting with a dimmer. The lights were installed several years ago, I’m just getting around to it. The rest of my house has been fairly straightforward except this one has me a bit puzzled.
I have two blacks and a red that appeared to be free floating. Unsure of how to wire this correctly to the dimmer I have. Thanks in advance for any insight.
Take the two black wires off the switch and connect together.
Add either of the dimmer wires to the black splice.
The other black dimmer wires goes to the red wire.
Connect green to the bare copper wires.
Hi, I am planning to install a ceiling fan in one of the rooms. I am not sure if the current outlet box can be used for the fan. The house was built in 1998. After getting in the attic and see through the light fixture, I believe the outlet box I have is the carlon 4” picture as below. The outlet box is nailed into a wood piece that secured between 2 frame structure. The fan I am going to install is a 44” fan weighs 17 lbs. thanks!

Ive decided to remodel my bathroom myself. I have no experience doing electrical. I am concerned about the exposed wiring i found after removing the original light fixture. I assume its not normal for it to look this way? To my knowledge this home was 100% original. Let me know your thoughts please.
Thanks!! Christine
