We need more details.
Tell us about the cabling between the fixture and the switch.
Tell use the make and model of the switch and fixture.
Is this a new install? an upgrade?

Well its a new install . I bought one of those 4ft led shop lights and it says if i have a 0-10v dimmer switch i can use it to dim . Im using 12/2 wire, it will hook up to a regular switch but i would like to have a dimmer.
i think its commercial electric. And i havent bought a switch yet

Most generic ballasts don't come with the dimmer function.
Those shop light type fixture don't either....especially the commercial electric ones.
