Vintage fiber optic lamp repair

I picked up an old fiber optic lamp today but realised when I got it home that the ends of the fiber optic cable donít glow, only the central part. It is the traditional silver ball base with the tiered fiber optic top. Have tried playing around with it but I donít have a complete understanding of how they operate. It looks clean but would cleaning the fibers help transmit the light better? Any other tips to help? Thanks in advance!

The fibers get light at one end and emit it at the other end. If some of the fiber are not emitting then they are not getting light. Could be a burnt out lamp, dirt on the lamp end of the fibers.
If the lamp has a multi colour spinner for effect, the spinner might not be spinning and blocking some of the fibers.
You need to open the base and inspect it.

Usually there is a light bulb and a small motor with a color wheel in the base. If part of the fibers aren't lighting my first guess is that the motor quit and the color wheel is blocking the light from hitting some of the fibers. You can fix it and get it working like new with moving and changing colors or just remove the color wheel and all the fibers will be white.

Take the base apart and post a picture of the components inside.

Sorry I should have mentioned that everything is working perfectly apart from the ends not glowing. This is the 3rd one of these Iíve had over the years and just canít work out why light isnít travelling all the way to the ends of the fiver optic cable.

Look at the size of the fiber bundle on the outside of the dome. Then look at it on the inside. If it's smaller than only part of it should glow.

If no light is coming out the end, then no light is going in the other end. You will need to inspect why.
