It's fine, but I don't love that it's all controlled by one switch, and then from there controlled by a remote. I'd rather have the fan on a switch and the light on a switch. On install, there is just a hot, neutral, and ground to hook up. So I'm thinking that in order to separate the two functions I'll have to undo the bundle going to the remote receiver. Looks like then I'd have blue, black, white, and green. I know that would bypass the use of the remote, but I'm OK with that. My only question is then what do I do with the original black/white/ground from the fan if I just the black/white/blue/ground combo instead? Any thoughts on this project?

Hi, I'm having some trouble wiring an exhaust fan in my bathroom. I have an older house that had one of those ceiling heaters which still worked. I removed it and wired up the exhaust fan but I can't get the fan to work . To test the fan I removed a light fixture and wired up the fan and it works fine. Curious thing is at the switch the wires are black and red. but in the ceiling the wires are red and white. The wires are thicker since it powered a heater, but i wouldnt think that would affect it working or not. Any ideas whats wrong?
