Welcome to the forums.

Very important..... that is not a fan rated electrical box.
It needs larger screws and the box needs to mount solidly.
That box moves now.... correct ?

You have three wires between that box and the switch. The white wire is neutral, the black is typically always live and the red is switched. The red or black can be switched. So in your case.... the red is currently a spare and is not in use. The black and white are probably switch controlled.

Yes...... you need to replace the box.

It looks like a bar box. It would have a bar that would be loosely attached to the ceiling joists.

This video shows some choices..... Raco fan box video

Yes..... it will work the same way except now you'll have two strings.
One for the fan and one for the lights.

No problem.
Yes..... you'll use white and black. Red should have had a cap on it even though it's probably dead.

That cable probably goes to a switch area. It's set up so that you could use two switches to control the fan and light. Good to have for future needs.

ok that makes a lot of sense (this is my living room) when i enter my home there are 2 switches 1 controls the outlets the other controls the front porch but the ceiling fan controls itself….
