So I know this has been discussed ad nauseum in the past. But! This layout is giving me fits. I'm trying to decide how to space the lighting, and am open to all sort of suggestions...
So the gray box in the middle is a skylight, the empty spot above is the sink. The perimeter solid lines are the cabinets, while the dotted lines are the counters. The solid box to the right of the skylight is where the fridge protrudes past the counters... Black dots are a general idea of what I am thinking as far as recessed lights (Not installed) that would be replacing the 80's style tube lighting currently present. The random box at the bottom of the picture is a chandelier in the dining room that will be replaced and can be moved over slightly either way if needed. I plan on added recessed to the dining room as well (on its own switch) for when I really want to light up. My issue is trying to figure out what to center off of. The skylight is slightly off center of the room, but i feel like it would be best to measure out from it for the recessed lighting to better appear symmetrical. Though if I do so and keep the pattern of recessed lights into the dining room, it will be more obvious that the lights aren't evenly spaced from the walls...
The bottom left recessed light may very well turn into dual pendants over the protruding counter/island, and am thinking that would allow some break in the monotony to then switch it up a bit? Again, over thinking I know. But any and all suggestions are welcome. Please use the picture as a reference for what you would do and scribble it up if needed.
Standard 8 foot ceiling
The only thing the lady wants to stay is skylight and chandelier, the rest is up for debate.

I'm trying to upgrade the switches in my switch box. Currently there is a switch to fan in left position, old dimmer to fan light in center, and switch to ceiling light (on 3 way with another switch in the room). I purchased 2 Eaton Smart Dimmers and an Eaton Smart Switch. Was hoping one dimmer would work with fan and other to fan light. The other smart switch was for the other ceiling light (really don't use the other switch in room (3 way). The wiring doesn't make much sense when I look at the current box. Any help in how to carry current wiring to new switches would be awesome! Also, if that smart dimmer won't work to adjust fan speeds, I will just switch it with the smart switch to the ceiling light.
