Fluorescent light is not working well

Hello,
I have a few F. lights in my basement. It's very hard to turn them on when in summer since it's pretty humid. As winter comes, everything is back to normal. I suspect the ballast be the culprit but not sure. Btw, I have T12 for now based on the size of the balbs. I need to make sure before replacing the ballast.

I have 6 lights, each has 2 balbs. 3 of them are good and the other 3 are not.

The sockets and the ends of the balbs are cleaned and no issues with connection.
Please let me know if more info needed.

Thanks in advance.

As every other inquiry regarding florescent lights, just convert them over to LED. You will eliminate all the issues that you are having with the ballast/bulbs and enjoy clean. bright, energy efficient lighting, you will not be disappointed!

I'm a second vote for converting them to LED. It is is very easy, the light is brighter and you use less electricity.

I guess I'm the only one on this forum against LEDs then?

Make sure the fixture is grounded properly. Some fixtures require a good ground the metal case to work properly.

200%

It has been 10 years and I am waiting for all of my fluorescent tubes to burn out because I got some as donation from neighbors who moved. I even bought replacement LED tubes ready to jump in when these last few are done.

In my garage, where I have two side by side, frankly, can't really tell the difference in terms of brightness until this year, the fluorescents are flickering and emitting a pink white.

LED lasts forever. The one in my office has been like 10 years already and I turn them on every night for 8 hours, including working from home. No flickering or hissing sounds.

You have stated the case many times and I have to say I am still in disbelief why!

My garage has 4 fixtures of double HO tubes as well as 4 individual 4'. When I first installed 12 years ago it was like WOW, that is bright.

When I converted to LED's 8 years ago it was like WWWWWWOOOOOOOWWWWW, now that is beyond impressive.

I would never, ever go back to those horrible fixtures!

Yup.

I also recommend changing to LED direct drive lamps.

Thank you all for your help and info.

LED sounds pretty attractive. But what can I do to make the change? Do I need a new sets of fixture? Would you happen to have a website that helps introduction? Is it expensive, just don't want to spend $500 for the replacement?

Thanks again.

It is typically not hard to convert over but how you do it will depend on the current fixture and the lamps you select.

Is your fixture a 4' with 4' bi-pin lamps or is it an 8' with 8' single-pin lamps?

I remember I bought my led shoplight on sale for $29 at Costco. Might want to checkout harbor freight also:
