Ceiling fan issue

I purchased a ceiling fan/light and an electrician installed it. After the fact he informed me the fan was 3 wire and the outlet was two wire. He said he made it work but to only use the switch or one button on the remote. That worked for a time but a child pushed other buttons and now only the fan works and hums when running and the light does not work at all. (Not a bulb issue). Is there any fix or should this fan not have been installed?

The fix is to get the manual on the remote and program it to work as previous.

Welcome to the forums.

That doesn't make any sense.
A three wire fan can be made to work by combing the light and fan power wires.
A remote controlled fan/light combo should only need two wires to operate normally.

Post the model number for the fan.
