Replacing a recessed can light with ceiling light fixture

Currently have a recessed can light placed between joists that uses provided housing clips for stabilizing to dry wall and anchored to offset joist on one side with a long wood screw.
I want to replace the can with a center mount light fixture. I have a 6" open hole with no cross stud, junction box or mounting bracket. What is a good cross member mount, given there is no stud or existing junction box present?

You could use a telescoping fan mount or cut and replace the drywall across two joists which will allow you to install an old work box anywhere it's needed!

Replace closet pull chain ceiling light

Knob and tube wiring. Looking to replace overhead closet light that operates with pull chain on off switch. Chain keeps breaking off . Pretty sure the fixture is very old. Would a newer version be better? Really don't want to add a wall switch if possible

Hi everyone, I'm looking for the answer to a old problem I've seen many times and yet to find the correct answer. Im living in a country that is still some ways behind the time in some places. the electrical systems here is not that good, and its mostly 2 wire, live neutral and no earth pin at all. So when the lights are of and in the nighttime, you can see all of the dim glow, not on but not off. could it be because the live and neutral can be wired up ever way could be the reason for them to still glow? i know when getting a light shock of a TV unplugging it and turning the plug the other way fixed it so was thing this could the same kind of problem. many thanks for any help in advance.
