Fan/light switch not working

This is something I've not encountered before.
Dual switch to control light and fan, except, the light switch powers the wall sconces (old wiring I'm assuming).
Fan switch works fine.
Light switch (dimmer) supplies power to wall sconces.
Connected new sconces to existing box wiring.
Power (verified by tester) but no light.
Also tested using a table lamp connecting to wires, no light.

Power but no light? I'm baffled.

Welcome to the forums.

If you have power then you don't have neutral.
You'd need a two probe tester or meter to check for 120v and neutral.
You would check from hot to neutral.... if nothing.... check from hot to ground.
