Nu Tone ceiling fan noise
I have these original Nu Tone ceiling fans, which the builder probably installed when the house was put up (1966). These work fine and I clean the filters. The one in these pics recently sounded like it was spinning faster, as the whirring noise was higher-sounding than usual. It lasted about 5-10 seconds. Then it was fine. What might be the cause? Is it a concern?

The bearings are dry. Their lubrication has run out.
Sometimes you can oil them with a light machine oil.
Other times the motor is replaced.
I can't read the tag in the picture. The motor should also have a label on it.

Another possibility is that the damper stuck closed briefly, either the one right on the fan, or the external one. Sometimes they get fouled up with damp lint or dust and don't open and close easily. That causes the motor pitch to change until the damper finally opens.
