removing electric saddle box from ceiling

I am removing light fixture for recess lights. There is a saddle electric box which i cannot seem to remove. I have never seen this before so was wondering any suggestions since this is 25 year old house. Any suggestions will be great.

Don't worry about it. You can't put a recessed light in that location. A saddle box mounts over a joist. Even if you did remove the box, you'll find a ceiling joist underneath it. That is what saddle boxes are used for.

If you want to remove it and cannot see any fasteners from the fixture side you have to go up in the attic. Some types of boxes are fastened from the outside, most often used during new construction when access is not a problem. But, the majority use fasteners you should be able to see and remove.

Thats right its crazy. I had to cut more drywall as it was first flor and then i was able to remove.
That was perfect in center for my kitchen sink now the recess light i will need to be on side even though it is slim flushed recess light and will look little bit odd.

Maybe a couple of smaller (read as fewer lumen) lights? Evens out illumination of the sink area and still pleases the eye.
