Prop cavitation
A friend recently purchased a fairly light and shallow V hull aluminum 16' boat with a 40 hp LS merc.
A problem he has is that when he makes a sharp turn while pulling his kids on a tube, the prop cavitates quite a bit.
The cavitation plate is about 2" below the hull.
We were looking at it tonight and he asked me if he could remove the transom long shaft filler and drop the LS motor to SS height.
I know the cavitation plate should ride even with the bottom of the hull, but couldn't tell him why his idea wouldn't work.
Any ideas on this?
