3.) Litre 6 cyl Merc Missing under load

I have a 3.0 liter mercury that was running great at start up this year. After about a 30 minute great run we stopped to pull a skier and when he said hit it, I did...it missed badly and had no power.

Engine runs great in nuetral but misses and vibrates under load.

What say you ?

That is a clear indication of ignition breakdown in the secondary system. That consists of the coil, dist cap, rotor, wires and plugs. It may be time to change the Cap, rotor wires and plugs, basically a tune up. I wouldn't really suspect a coil problem at this stage.

High resistance in the cap, rotor, wires could have been the cause of the fouled plug in the first place. That's not supposed to happen.
