1989 18'0 sunbird 2
captains seat pulled out of floor,mounted by screws through flange on bottom of seat.screwed into fiberglass floor through carpet.tried drilling new holes,but floor (fiberglass)is too weak to hold,any suggestions?

Hard to say if they have no good backing there under the glass. If there is no way to put better backing under it Id try some 1/4" toggle bolts. drill the holes for them and they will spred out for you when you put them in. See if you can find them in S/S they would be better. Thats like in some sailboats you always want to check under the winches to see that they have a good backing.
