Evinrude starter

Will a starter from a 1984 40hp or 1978 70hp Evinrude fit a 1975 50 Evinrude?
These are on ebay and I don't want to purchase one if they won't work. Person with 40hp starter states there's no numbers on the starter.

Bad Idea

Hello: ranger1.

Personally speaking, I would not suggest and highly recommend against buying any part for the engine without being positive it will work, let alone fit. Nor buying any such part from an unknown party and worse yet, without part numbers on the part.

Best bet, in my opinion, buy the starter from a known local & reputable dealer. Doing so insures the part you are purchasing is correct for the intended application and is not a "HOT" part.

Thanks for the reply. Being unemployed will cloud your judgement sometimes.
