imperial trade for dirt bike
I was approached baout trading my motocross bike for a 1984 or 5 imp 20' cuddy with a 130hp 4 cyl. It had a new marine ply floor last year. outdrive looks OK, but being new to boats, What else should i look for? I was going to look at the transom, walls, cables, etc. I know repairing these suckers isn't as cheap as a bike!!!

What kind of bike are you thinking of trading? What kind of engine and outdrive on the boat? You said new floor, but how are the seats.Do you know how many hours are on the engine? What about the trailer?Do all the gauges work? Was it mostly run in fresh water or salt?I bought an older boat and these were some of the questions that my boating friends asked me.I would also take a look at the hull for hard bangs but in some areas like mine its hard not to have dings even on newer boats. To be safer yet(I was not)Try to have the seller take you for a spin around the water. You can hide some things but not the obvious problems. After running around the water it would be a good thing to look the engine over.Check the oil for anti freeze or water.Look in the bilge area for water and or oil.I think you get what I mean.Dont become jaded about becoming a boat owner and not see the obvious,or You might (like me) become a regular on Fix-It boat forums!

great ideas, thanks. My bike is a 1999 kawasaki KX250. Perfect non-raced condition. I just found out today, that after he put points, wires, etc. in it this weekend, he took it out in the bay, and noticed a HARD knock at about 3,000rpm's. No thanks!
