Advice needed: Suzuki 65hp lower unit

ive been quoted $800 to reco lower unit in my suzuki 65hp. Just wanted some advice to see if i can do it myself. Originally went in cause the gear selector came out and apparently there's been some grinding of the gears inside.. does this sound right and if so can anyone suggest somewhere so i can get a suzuki overhaul kit? or would it just mean get a new lower unit? Aah bit confused but think im on the right track!?! Thanks

Hello: lolita

Not very likely you will find any foundry or shop to make one specialized set of gears for one special purpose, and at a one time service for any reasonable fee, etc.

Best bet is to purchase the entire lower end and install it yourself. Or buy the needed parts and assemble them yourself. A service manual would be highly suggested. Read and follow all instructions and directions to avoid assembly problems and damages when first using fixed engine.
