Mercruiser 470 fuel pump

I hope someone here can offer some advice. I have a 77 mercruiser 470 and am having fuel problems. When I crank the engine I don't get any fuel out of the pump, but when I removed the pump and actuated the lever by hand, it seems to work fine. Also the eccentric inside the block seems to be OK, but I hav not actually measured it. Could it just be a worn diaphram or is it something worse? Thanks for any help.

No fuel at pump

Possiblely scale plugging the tank outlet: to clear blow compressed air back into the tank from the fhe fuel line with the filler cap off.

Expect the pump to throw fuel at least 3 feet if disconnecting the discharge line from the fuel pump.

Always a good idea to carry a spare pump for any older engine.
