Engine overspeeds

94, 5.7l, Bravo II, Boat will not plane and engine overspeeds. I suspected a spun prop, so I marked the prop and took the boat out and tried to reach plane. When I removed the prop, my marks were good. Could there be a problem in the stern drive? Just looking for confimation of a bad/worn coupler before I go to all the trouble of pulling the engine.

Id sure check the prop hub again. Before I went into the drive, try another prop first for sure.
