1987 mercruser 260 wont turn

i purchased a 24 ft seabird with a 260 mercruser,went out in oct. for a test run every thing was fine,had the boat winterized pick it up in may now the thing wont start.it has a duel battery set up ihope i reconnected right.when i turn the key i just here a click any help please i am new to inboards

Click only on start

Not enough power at relay..

Low battery?

Poor connections at batteries, relay, starter, ground.

Clean with sandpaper or batt brush and reconnect using dielectric grease (vaseline) on contact surfaces.

thanks for the reply,cleaned all the connections,installed a new slave selenoid turned the key and the starter makes a noise that sounds like your hitting a big spring with a hammer,is the starter gone? also the batteries a brand new

Dont know why But I want to say low battery also. Will it start if you jump from the battery to the starter ????
