40 hp mariner two stroke motor will not start

I have a 1987 bass boat with a 40 hp mariner two stroke motor that will not start. I took it out for the first time since i bought it. The motor seemed to have run fine until i turned it off to fish for a little bit. I have an ignition problem because when i went to turn the motor off it didnt work so i killed by pulling the choke. When i went to turn it back on the motor would turn but would not start. I checked to make sure i had gas, I checked to make sure the spark plugs were firing both the gas and spark plugs were fine. What could be the problem and how can i fix it

Fixed the problem

I fixed the problem with the motor not starting after it has been running for a little bit. The idle on the boat was off and needed to be adjusted. Now she runs like a champ.
