Mercury Outboard Stator Problems. HELP.

Hello Everybody.

I am hoping that some one out there can help with this. I have a 1989 Mercury 80horse 3cylinder with a serial/engine number of OB373369. The Stator on it has just failed (Open Circuited). The part number on the stator was 398-8778A16 which i was told was then changed to 398-8778A10. This to has changed to 398-832075A7 as my model needs to have the voltage regulator now installed.

Right now My Question is what is the difference between a stator kit 398-832075A7 and a stator kit 398-832075A15.There seems to be alot of kits around with just the last two numbers different. Are the later numbers again just superseeding the last one or are they for different motors.

I look forward to hearing from anyone that can shed some light on this.

Thanks for your Time.

With a Voltage Regulator use stator #398-832075A5 (16 amp)

Without Voltage Regulator use # 398-832075A7 (16amp)

With or without voltage regulator is based on how it was originally equipped. The w/o voltage regulator comes with a module.

There have been several suppression's on stators and can be very confusing
